Building On Your Lot vs. Living in a Community
The decision to build a new home is laden with feelings of excitement and possibility. After all, you are creating a one-of-a-kind space that will perfectly suit the needs of you and your family for years to come. That decision comes with lots of choices – the most important of which is where to build. Fortunately, you have great options – particularly if you are considering building a new home in West Michigan.
The natural beauty of this area is stunning, and if you are considering purchasing your own land, your views may just be your most valuable amenity. There are also a variety of new home communities in great locations that offer convenience to schools, shopping, and entertainment. Which to choose? Luckily, there is no bad choice – only the one that’s right for you.
Let’s take a look at the differences between building on your land (BOYL) or living in a community so that you have all the information you need to make the best decision!
Building On Your Land
You Own the Land
Whether your land has been passed down from family, or you purchased it because of its perfect location, we understand how much it means to you. With BOYL building, you choose the site, and then we’ll do an initial evaluation, survey, and sitework to make sure we build a home perfectly suited to your property.
Longer Build-to-Move-In Timeline
Good things come to those who wait. In this case, you get a dream home in your ideal location, with just a few more weeks of waiting. Depending on the condition of your land, site development work will need to be completed before construction can begin. We’ll make sure your land is cleared, graded, and prepared, and secure all local building permits and licenses to do so.
Choose Your Surroundings
Neighbors or no neighbors? Lakeside or wooded? The possibilities are endless when you choose the land you’re building on. One thing is for sure – you’ll wake up each morning loving where you live, both indoors and out.
So Many Locations
With our Build On Your Land program, you enjoy all the benefits of a Bosgraaf home virtually anywhere in West Michigan. Purchase your own lot or tear down an existing home and rebuild. It is a wonderful solution when you can’t imagine leaving your neighborhood, but can’t find a home there to suit your needs. If you love where you live, it’s easier than you think to have your dream home and your dream address.
Living In a Community
We Own the Land
The surveying and sitework is already done before you sign the paperwork, making the building process faster.
Quicker Move-In Timeline
With our available homes, there’s a shorter wait from the time of closing to move-in. With this option, whether the home is near completion or the sitework is done and construction has just started, the wait time to move-in will be less than a to-be-built home.
Close-Knit Neighbors
Neighbors are just steps away, so it’s easy for kids (and grown-ups) to enjoy a rich social experience.
Convenient Locations
Our new home communities are located throughout the Grand Rapids and Lakeshore areas, and are close to conveniences such as schools, fitness centers, grocery stores, and restaurants.
